Complete success for the JEAN PIERRE DUBOIS Sale

The mob descended on Cabourg racecourse to assist in the big end of year Sale, the Jean-Pierre DUBOIS part dispersal sale. From the moment the first horse passed through the great hall, the place was filled as on the final race day, the preceding August 25th. The mood was set by lot 3, OUT, holding 2 victories who made 85 000 €. Two and a half hours later, 64 of the 74 lots had been sent down, giving a clearance rate of 84% and an exceptional sales figure of 6 349 000 € with the average price at nearly 100 000€.

Closer analysis shows that the top lot was the made by the filly PRIVATE LOVE, an impressive 3 y-o with an exceptional pedigree; by GOETMALS WOOD, out of AMOUR D´AUNOU (a sister to BUVETIER and DEFI D’AUNOU). The filly was bought by Fabrice SOULOY on behalf of the Count d´ORNANO who was made to go to 450 000 € to hold off Jean-Pierre BARJON. The latter, nonetheless active, acquired 3 lots, each of whom represent breeding investments, with the purchase of the sister to BON VIVANT, GRAND FARCEUR and ETONNE MOI (QUELLE IRONIE for 165 000 €) as well as LA FEE and KANGONE. To acquire PINE CHIP WOOD, a remarkably bred colt, recently placed in the Group 2 Prix Pierre Plazen à Vincennes, Philippe THIRIONET acting on behalf of a syndicate was forced to go to 440 000 €, before the trainer Jim FRICK went to 420 000 € to gain the brother of the classic stallions LOVE YOU and NICE LOVE, PERHAPS LOVE on behalf of Anders NORDEMO, a Swedish owner. The 2 y-olds also set the sales ring alight, QUEVERT (colt by COKTAIL JET, out of a daughter of DEFI D´AUNOU and SLAVE) and QUATRE JUILLET (brother to DAGUET RAPIDE, by LOVE YOU), bought by Axel WEND (whose colours were once worn by BAHAMA) for 400 000 €, as well as the promising QUELLE AVENTURE (daughter of BAHAMA) bought by the Marquise de MORATALLA (260 000 €) and QUICK WOOD sent down for 180 000 € to Pegasus Farm, for the well known Irish owner Sean MULRYAN, owner of the Auteuil expert CYRLIGHT, keen to equally invest in Trotting.

For their part, the broodmares NOUVELLE AVENTURE (350 000 €) and PRETENCE (300 000 €) join the Jean COTTIN team and the Ecurie des CHARMES respectively. By the end, 19 lots made over 100 000 €, 10 of which went to 200 000 €.

As anticipated, the DUBOIS products encited great longing, investors coming from all over Europe, keen to acquire a « DUBOIS », even if we can note that the sessions’ best broodmares will not be moving stables.

THE SALE OF THE ECURIE DES CHARMES Thursday, 27th OCTOBER 2005.

Lutfi KOLGJINI bought PRINCE DE CHARMES for 200.000€.

Under a vibrant French sun and after a perfectly orchestrated morning presentation by the whole team at the Ecurie des Charmes, directed by Jan KRUITHOF, the sale for the part dispersal of the yard of M. Lucien URANO lived up to the expectations set in the 2005 catalogue during this none the less traditional session.

The catalogue, although slightly sparer that the year before was better in quality, attracting a highly international clientele (strong representatives from Scandanavia, Belgium and Italy) drawn by the organiser’s resolute attitude to sell.

The excellent selection of older horses immediately excited interest with lot n° 8, OSCOLO DU BOCAGE, a recent winner at Enghein, making 50.000€. This was immediately followed by NOVELINO (66.000€) and in the same breath, 74.000€ was made by MAESTRO BOURBON for a Belgian client. Bloostock Agency International bid to 48.000€ to gain OTTO D’URZY (n°11).
Of the 2 year-olds, PRINCE DE CHARME, who has been so prominent at Vincennes joins Lutfi KOLGJINI (decidedly present on the hexagonal market this year) for the sum of 200.000€ following an exceptional battle with the Belgian yard of NV JABI.
The whole of this ensemble stayed the course (see PEGASE DE ROZOY bought for
45.000€ by a client of Christophe MARTENS, PATRIARCHE (42.000€) for Bloostock Agency International, PRESIDIUM 41.000€ for Olivier DEBOUDAUD…) and the remainder of the session (breeding stock) also sold well.
